Wilbers shock absorber - BMW R12 - Type 640 Road

Product information "Wilbers shock absorber - BMW R12 - Type 640 Road"

Wilbers shock absorber with rebound adjustment for BMW R12 nineT - G/S & Cruiser

The BMW R12 models already have a pretty good suspension from the factory. But it can always be better!
With the Wilbers Road shock absorber, you get a shock absorber that is tailored to your needs and your weight.
It also makes sense to replace the shock absorber on the R12 models for various reasons (e.g. a longer shock absorber). You can find model-specific tips & recommendations from us a little further down in the description.

Each shock absorber is specially manufactured to customer order, perfectly matched. The delivery time is therefore approx. 10 - 20 working days.

The shock absorbers come with ABE for your motorbike (so they do not need to be registered with the TÜV).

About the shock absorber

The Wilbers Type 640 Adjust Line shock absorbers are high-quality shock absorbers with adjustable rebound and a shock absorber setup tailored to your weight, area of use and requirements.
The spring preload (which is of course preset to suit) is infinitely adjustable.
The rebound can be adjusted in 22 clicks using the rotary knob.

Radial pistons, wet running guide & Teflon-guided self-aligning bearings ensure fine response behaviour.

For possible accessory variants, see further down in the description.

Height adjustment
The height adjustment allows you to adjust the length of the strut by + / - 5mm via a thread.
Attention: only limited use with lowering

Laengenverstellung Variable ride height

Hydraulic spring preload (Wilbers-PA)
With the hydraulic Wilbers PA, you can adjust the spring preload very quickly and conveniently. This allows you to adjust the suspension very easily, e.g. for luggage payload or pillion operation.
A vehicle-specific bracket for the adjuster is included.
The adjustment can be adjusted by 10 mm with the PA.

Customised to you
In order to be able to customise the shock absorber perfectly for you, we need the following information from you (please simply enter this in the comments field at the end of the ordering process)
  • Rider weight - (with motorbike clothing)
  • Soizius weight
We only recommend that you take this into account if you regularly ride in pairs. Otherwise, we advise you to adjust the shock absorber perfectly for solo operation, as a shock absorber can only be optimally adjusted to one weight.
  • % Share of frequency WITH pillion operation
  • Luggage weight
Here we recommend the same as for pillion operation
  • % proportion of frequency WITH operation with luggage
  • Setting of the shock absorber: Comfortable / Standard (our recommendation) / Sporty
  • Purpose: Race track / road / off road

Model-specific Raisch recommendations for the R12 models

R12 nineT

Our clear recommendation for the nineT is to order the shock absorber with length adjustment and maximum length.
The original shock absorber from the factory is quite short and does not look very nice on the nineT. The rear end is clearly too low, which disturbs the side line. The higher rear makes the nineT look sportier (which the overall look of the motorbike also embodies) and the bike comes closer to the R nineT again. A visual flaw that many do not notice, but which makes a big difference.
See pictures of the black nineT

An additional positive side effect is that the longer suspension strut gives the bike a little more ground clearance and the footrests touch down later when leaning.

R12 G/S
The G/S comes from the factory with a fairly long chassis, which suits the look of the bike and also fits the concept of the bike. The basic length is therefore initially very well chosen.
If you want to emphasise the off-road look even more, you can make the suspension strut a little longer, which makes the motorbike a little higher.
For riders who are not so tall and have problems getting their feet on the ground, we recommend ordering the shock a little shorter.

R12 Cruiser
Visually, the R12 is supposed to be a facaher curiser, which is why the basic length of the shock is very good from a visual point of view.
If you are lacking a bit of lean angle freedom (pegs touching down too early), we recommend ordering the shock a little longer.
