In our opinion, the standard steering damper on BMW R nineT models is set far too stiff and, moreover, cannot be adjusted. As a result, turning the bike feels considerably more cumbersome than it really ought to.

With the ability to adjust the damping to suit your individual preferences, you can tailor the bike’s handling precisely to your liking. We recommend a slightly softer setting, as this makes the motorbike feel much lighter and more agile to ride.
If you’d like to experience the difference for yourself, you can remove the original damper on a trial basis and take it for a short spin. After just a few metres, you’ll notice just how much the standard damper affects the bike’s handling. Of course, you should not ride without a steering damper on a permanent basis, as this will invalidate the motorbike’s roadworthiness certificate.
